Our vision is to create a pipeline of environmental education experiences for youth from preschool to college, and beyond! Together with the help of supporters like you, we offer classroom sessions, swimming lessons, field trips, internships, scholarships, and employment opportunities to Virgin Island youth.

Learn To Swim
Virgin Islands National Park and the Friends of Virgin Islands National Park have offered free swim lessons to St. John youth during the summer months in the park for more than a decade!

Summer Camps
Friends offers summer learning opportunities for youth enrolled in summer camps including hiking, snorkeling, and more.

Playground Repair
Working with the Park and the community to repair the playground in front of the VINP Visitors Center that was damaged in the 2017 hurricanes.

Summer Trail Crew
Providing professional summer job opportunities to Virgin Island youth interested in conservation.

Jeffrey Matheny Scholarship
A scholarship program established by his family that aims to encourage study, among Virgin Islanders at the university level, in fields related to natural resource management and/or protection.
