Events & Seminars

 Friends of Virgin Islands National Park manages and/or sponsors a number of events and seminars that celebrate the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Virgin Islands National Park.

These events run from November to June and aim to educate and connect visitors and the St. John community with the Park, as well as serving as fundraising opportunities in support of our programs.  Join us!


Paddle the Park 2022

This fun SUP fundraiser kicks off the season.  It takes place on Sunday November 13.  All three courses start and end at Maho Bay Beach!

Hikes, Walks & Turtle Talks

Welcome to Friday with Friends Seminar Program!  Explore and learn about Virgin Islands National Park through a series of hikes, nature & culture walks, and turtle talks. Free to members. This program runs November to June.

Sea Turtle Excursion

Second Sunday November to June

Hosted by Sea Turtle Program Co-ordinator, Willow Melamet, this unique experience departs both St.Thomas and St.John. Learn from an expert and make two snorkel stops in the Park. These trips run November to June.


Volunteer On Our Trails

Our walkup trails volunteer program is closed for the season.  It will restart in November.  Thank you to everyone who did an amazing job helping maintain our trails and ruins this year. 


Cinnamon Bay Campground Chats

Monday to Friday evenings

Explore and learn about nature, history and culture in Virgin Islands National Park at Cinnamon Bay Beach & Campground. Free & open to all.  Please register. This program runs November to June.

This year-in-review look at the Friends was open to everyone and was held virtually via zoom. Our keynote speakers were Park Superintendent Nigel Fields, and Dr. Paul Jobsis, Director of University of Virgin Islands Center for Marine & Environmental Studies.

Folk Life Festival

Thursday, February 24 & Friday, February 25, 2022 at local schools. 

Visit the poster and photo galleries and enjoy the 2021 documentary illuminating this annual celebration of the cultural gifts of the Virgin Islands.  Watch the interviews with a moko jumbie, a storyteller, a maubi maker, a beekeeper, and more cultural ambassadors.


Reef Bay Hike

This hike is currently not running.  Friends is hosting group hikes on other trails on the last Friday of every month as a part of our Friday With Friends Seminar Series.  Please join us!
