Friends of Virgin Islands National Park offers a range of field options in the park for summer camp providers to choose from including ranger-led hikes, kayaking, swimming and more.
For example, we offer a ranger-led “Seashore Walk” that follows the Leinster Bay Trail onward to the historical Annaberg Sugar Mill Plantation, which teaches valuable life science and cultural history lessons. The Friends also offers summer camp providers weekly options for hands-on science activities designed to help build knowledge and appreciation for native plant and animal species.
Additionally, the Friends is committed to affording the St. John Sports, Parks and Recreation's summer campers the opportunity to participate in all of our eco-camp offerings for free. We do this by providing additional support and resources to help support the camp, including transportation to and from field trip excursions in the park, funding to cover fees for tour operators, and Red Cross certified water safety instructors to lead weekly swim lessons.
The St. John Sports, Parks & Recreation Summer Camp has a 6-week camp. Through our partnership support, the campers (ages 6-16) will participate in ranger-led hikes, swim lessons and other excursions.
