Summer Camps

Learning To Swim & Explore

Friends of Virgin Islands National Park offers Learn To Swim and School Kids in the Park (SKIP) programming to summer camp providers on St. John and St. Thomas. Program content aims to encourage an appreciation and understanding of Virgin Islands natural and cultural resources through onshore educational presentations, demonstrations, hikes, and excursions. Swim lessons teach the basics of swimming and water safety.

In summer 2024, 300 youth from St. John and St. Thomas summer camps participated in over 70 hikes, visits to Annaberg, Learn To Fish excursions, Learn To Swim lessons, and presentations on turtles, plants, fish, birds, drumming, johnny cake baking, and more.
