Visitor Use Study

Friends of Virgin Islands National Park, in cooperation with Virgin Islands National Park, is conducting a Visitor Use Study from December 2025 to July 2026.

The purpose of the Visitor Use Study is to collect valuable information about the public’s use of this Park. The onsite studies will involve conducting counts and making observations about vehicles, boats, and trail users. The results will provide an updated methodology for conducting counts of visitation and will be used to measure and characterize visitation to the Park so that informed near- and long-term management decisions can be made relative to resources, visitation impacts, and natural and cultural resource protection.

The study runs from December 2025 with the installation of automated counters on select roads and trails, through the spring and summer. Calibration studies will be conducted during this time on roads, beaches, trails and moorings.

Friends will be assisted by Industrial Economics, Incorporated in managing the studies.

Please send any inquiries about the study to Friends at info@friendsvinp.org.
