If ever there was a happy pill, it would be watching the smiling faces of the students who attended Culture Day. They tried their hand at bamboula dancing, learned all about the calabash and its many uses, explored fishing tackle and the names of local fish, and more. This wonderful event was attended by some 570 students from St. John and St. Thomas schools and is a part of our vibrant School Kids In The Park program that aims to nurture the conservationists of the future.

On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the National Park Service Act, marking the beginning of a legacy dedicated to preserving and protecting our natural and cultural treasures for future generations. As public lands management continues to evolve, we know many are wondering what the future holds. At Friends of Virgin Islands National Park, we remain focused on the work and committed to our mission. With the fast pace of change, some things are meant to last—St. John’s stunning beauty and rich Virgin Islands heritage will endure and your support will be more important than ever.

Thank you for inspiring us and sharing our passion for conservation and education. In a changing world, we thank you for being a Friend. Read the March Newsletter here.
