Friends July Newsletter

The Friends July Newsletter is about summer youth programs and celebrating the start of sea turtle nesting season.

From Summer Trail Crew to Learn to Swim, and natural and cultural program support for all the summer camps on island, Friends is very focused on conservation awareness in future generations. In addition, scholarship applications for university-level Virgin Islanders for both the Noble Samuel and Jeffrey Matheny Scholarships are now being accepted. 

Last week the first leatherback turtle nest to be laid on island since 2016 hatched. Watching these tiny creatures scurrying towards the ocean to face life against many odds was inspiring and hopeful.  And the volunteer nest monitoring team is in action with two Hawksbill nests found.
