DPNR Public Notice Regarding Proposed Renovations And Improvements To the VINP Visitors Center
The Department of Planning and Natural Resources announces that pursuant to Virgin Islands Rules and Regulations, Title 12, Chapter 21, Section 904-9, an application for Federal Consistency Determination, CZJ-04-21(FC), has been submitted by the National Park Service (NPS). The project proposes renovate the existing visitor center repairing the components damaged by the 2017 storms and make the building more resilient to future storms and sea level rise. NPS has also requested permission to repair the aging bulkhead and dock; and to conduct maintenance dredging of the basin within the National Park Service’s control to allow ample depth for the docking of their vessels. The project site is located at the NPS Cruz Bay Visitor Center Plot No. 12 Estate Caneel Bay, St. John.
All persons interested are invited to be present and heard at the scheduled Public Meeting on the proposed project which begins on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 4:00p.m. In an effort to help to reduce the global spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), this meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform Zoom. Properly signed statements concerning the proposed project, addressed to the undersigned, will become part of the hearing record. Written statements must be submitted by June 10, 2021 via email to [email protected].

Further, plans for the proposed project are on file for review by appointment only at the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, Division of Coastal Zone Management, located on the first floor of the Charles Wesley Turnbull Regional Public Library, 4607 Estate Tutu, St. Thomas between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Mondays through and Fridays, except holidays.
