Celebrating the beaches and waters of Virgin Islands National Park, the Friends of Virgin Islands National Park is pleased to again host Paddle the Park, a standup paddleboard race.  Below is general information about the race.  All competitors are strongly urged to review the Course Description, Competition Rules and Course Maps in preparation for the race.

Paddle the Park will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Maho Bay on St. John.

The Friends of Virgin Islands National Park's annual gala will be hosted by David and Rhonda McCay at their home "La Vita" in lower Peter Bay on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Click here to see the invitation online or call (340) 779-4940 for more information.

“Assisted” swimmers are those competitors using fins, snorkels or exposure suits. Masks or goggles are permitted for all swimmers and swim caps (to be provided) are mandatory. 
Each member of a three-person relay must complete a separate registration form and list the names of their other team members in the space provided.
If any member of a relay team uses fins, snorkels or exposure suits, the entire team is considered an “assisted” relay team.

PLEASE NOTE:

  REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO 350 SWIMMERS 

  NO REGISTRATION ON THE DAY OF EVENT!

Pre-race meeting

At the T'ree Lizards Restaurant at Cinnamon Bay Campground, Saturday, May 28TH.  All swimmers are strongly urged to attend this full briefing.

3:00 pm: Registration and pre-check in (complete paperwork and distribution of event t-shirts and goodie bags)

4:00 pm: Detailed briefing on the course and the event. This lasts about 45 minutes

Beach to Beach Practice Swims start at Maho Beach at 8:30 AM

Sunday April 17th- Maho-Cinnamon Bay

Sunday May 1st-Maho-Trunk Bay

Sunday May 15th- Maho-Hawksnest

Anyone coming from St. Thomas, please take the 7:30 AM Red Hook Ferry (to attend practice swims) and the 6:30 AM Red Hook Ferry (on Race Day). In either instance look for the event shuttle taxi with the Beach to Beach practice swim sign.

Please note:  If the participant will be under 18 years of age on race day, the racer’s parent or legal guardian must complete a Parental Authorization and Waiver of Liability

Don't forget to check out Race for a Reason!  Donations made to the Friends of VINP during the Race for a Reason Fundraising Challenge will be used to support the “Learn to Swim” program in Virgin Islands National Park along with other projects and programs. All participants raising $250 or more for Friends receive a Limited Edition 2016 Beach-to-Beach Power Swim hat and the top 3 fundraisers receive special gifts following the race at the Beach Party/Awards Celebration at Oppenheimer Beach.
